owl DESIGN OWL

The exhibit by Níall McLaughlin Architects at the Venice Biennale has models of six different halls placed upon a rotating table. While each of the halls have a different purpose, they share the mutual goal of bringing people together in a rhythmic and cyclical fashion daily, weekly and annually.

The exhibit aims to show how the different halls are regulated by a calendar of events, rituals and times of congregation. This calendar is inscribed on the outer rim of the turning table. By rotating the table’s surface, you can track the passage of the sun through the day from dawn to dusk and also examine the changing effects on the building throughout the year.

Design Owl in association with Hafele through a web film series have captured some of the most intriguing exhibits showcased at The Biennale Architettura 2018 at Venice.
