In a veritable effort at innovation, S+PS Architects wipe the dreary look off a family home, opening it up to light, air and space. When Pinkish Shah and Shilpa Gore-Shah of S+PS Architects took up this project, they could foresee innumerable shortcomings. Renovating this house was taken up as a challenge but when the structural complexities came up, the challenge became a battle. Considering the space constraints, Shah has kept the look minimal while using off-the-ground furniture to highlight the sweeping effect. All the materials used for this project were locally sourced. While the structural repair lasted for two-and-a-half months, the interior designing was completed within four months. Throughout the process, Shah kept his ideas close to the client’s requirement of more light, air and spaciousness. Today, he fondly calls this place the ‘Light House’.
