The \'Silver Tube\' restaurant designed by Planet 3 Studios is shaped like the cross section of an aircraft. It is made from mild steel tubular sections, with Galvalume sheets on the outside, which serve to waterproof the entire structure. The space has been designed to transform character with programmable colour changing LED lighting, and a clever mix of transparent, translucent, opaque and reflective materials. In an attempt to create that perfect posture that allowed the comfort and choice of conventional sitting and lying back in a bed lounge fashion, architect Santha Gour hit upon the idea of an elliptical lounge space. The elliptical tabletops and stainless steel supports evoke the neo-retro feel of sci-fi pop culture icons. The space has been designed to disconnect patrons from the outside. Effect lights create psychedelic patterns on the ceiling and walls, and lasers stream across the underside of the dance floor filled with artificial smoke.
