Post-Modern Revival

Architect Kapil Gupta of Contemporary Urban designed the contemporary store, Bungalow 8 for a young and extensively travelled Maithili Ahluwalia. It is housed in an old bungalow situated in a leafy bylane of Carmichael Road, Mumbai an area where the high-rises have not entirely taken over the landscape.
Yet the space by itself is post-modern. Done up in wood that’s been stained white, it has display panels crafted out of stained white. Subtle ceiling lights highlight the objects and products. Because the look of Bungalow 8 is so minimal, the textures of the products on sale stand out - from the browns and greens in the bamboo platters to the grainy texture of the wooden patta or sit down Indian chair.
