Environ Planners’ project in Nasik, showcases Sanjay Patil’s no-nonsense approach and relaxed practicality that is the cornerstone of his design. Particularly partial to the central courtyard and open sit-out familiar in old Indian houses, it is evident that Sanjay finds merit in their appropriateness and convenience, and not just in their historicity. So design which welcomes the modern without denying the past is the order of the day. Consequently, he integrates traditional leanings into a rigorously contemporary home. Here, lush green lawns stretch to the walls of the garden, bordered by a variety of plants. Mushroom shaped garden lights dot the landscape. Composite concrete, Indian marble and Newasa stone which is available locally, have also been used to realise this home.
