Based on essential Indian design elements, Aranya Farmhouse in Ahmedabad boasts of bespoke furniture.
While Keyur Vadodaria and Megha Patel of Patel-Vadodaria Design Research Studio (PVDRS) designed the interiors of the farmhouse, the architecture was done by Modo Designs.
The interior design focuses on the development of interior spaces that are minimalist, elegant and draped in colours and textures that are Indian in essence.
The furniture is bespoke, designed specifically for this project. They ave been realised from solid wood that was reclaimed from a very old factory shed that belonged to the clients.
The figures, grains and veins of the wood are not masked. They are rather celebrated in an application of linseed oil polish. MS Steel in grey colour is used as structural frame as well as ironmongery. The kitchen wall forms the focus of the living space, with its hexagonal cracked yellow tile with wood inlays.
The interior colour and material palette form a background to receive the client's collection of paintings, artefacts and rugs.
Having worked in London for nine years, Megha, a trained interior designer, and Keyur, an architect with a doctorate in energy efficient buildings, returned to India to set up their design practice. Based in Ahmedabad, PVDRS (Patel Vadodaria Design Research Studio) offers comprehensive architecture, interior design and landscape design services so that aspiring clients can realise world-class projects. PVDRS works at a variety of scale, ranging from the design of a door handle to buildings and its surroundings.
